Abu Dhabi hotels: selling the reason guests come

Guests come to Abu Dhabi for something specific — a museum, a theme park, a race. Here is how hotels sell that reason with the room, and what changed in fees.

Few guests come to Abu Dhabi “just for a hotel”. They come for the Louvre on Saadiyat, the theme parks on Yas Island, the Grand Prix, a desert escape in Liwa, or business in the capital. Hotels that sell that reason together with the room win the direct booking.

Fees: check what you show

Since 1 September 2023, the tourism fee on hotel guest charges in Abu Dhabi is 4% (it was 6%), and the AED 15 municipality fee per room per night was removed. VAT of 5% applies. Some hotel websites still show the older fees — which makes the direct price look higher than it is.

Sell the experience in the same cart

With add-ons, attraction tickets, transfers and dinners go into the same checkout as the room. Local partner operators can list desert trips and tours for you to sell.

Race weekend

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina books out months ahead. Create a race-weekend rate plan with its own minimum stay and cancellation terms, and open it early to your past guests.

Families in summer

GCC families fill Yas Island in school holidays. Multi-room booking, kids offers and theme-park bundles work well.
